CompuGain achieves internationally recognized ISO 27001:2005 & ISO 9001:2008 Certifications

August 10, 2012 Hyderabad, India – CompuGain today announced that its offshore delivery unit, CompuGain India (CompuGain Solutions India P Ltd.) has earned the prestigious ISO 27001:2005 and ISO 9001:2008 certifications for its information security management systems (ISMS) and quality management systems (QMS).

ISO/IEC 27001:2005 is an internationally recognized information security management system standard and ISO 9001:2008 is an internationally recognized quality management system (based on the eight management principles), both developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

ISO 27001 is the international best practice standard for information security. It provides a framework under which the management of information security takes place. This covers IT security as well as many other areas of a business, such as personnel security, physical security, legal compliance, and business continuity. The standard includes a clearly-defined set of requirements for establishing, operating, and maintaining ISMS and prescribes a risk-based approach around the controls necessary to protect an organization’s and client’s information assets. This significant achievement means that CompuGain’s customers will enjoy the many benefits that this certification brings. They can rest assured that their sensitive data is being handled in an environment that operates to the very highest standard for information security.

CompuGain’s certifications covers Software Development, Testing & Quality Assurance, Application R&D Services, and IT Service Management Services in its offshore delivery facility in India. It also covers the systems, networks, facilities, and people that support CompuGain’s IT Service delivery.

Commenting on the achievement, Sai Alluru, CTO for CompuGain said, “This clearly shows our commitment to developing and improving IT standards and compliance for our IT service offerings.  By achieving the ISO 27001:2005 and ISO 9001:2008 certifications, we have demonstrated to our customers that we are committed to protecting the data of our customers and will continue to practice high quality standards in everything we do. Attaining ISO Certifications is a significant milestone and validation of our efforts.”

Debasish Hota, President & CEO of CompuGain, commented, “I am extremely proud of our team in achieving this milestone.  The ISO certifications prove our commitment to our clients; not only through the protection of their treasured data, but also through our service delivery standards and our process-driven approach and methodology.  CompuGain places a significant emphasis on providing customers with the confidence that we are conducting our business with the highest levels of quality which includes a strict focus on information security.”

The ISO/IEC 27001:2005 and ISO 9001:2008 certifications are valid for three years, with surveillance audits performed every year by accrediting agency. To be certified to these standards, companies must develop & implement a quality management system comprising all functions of the organization and implement an information security management system to identify, manage, and reduce the range of threats to which information is regularly subjected.
