Washington's SmartCEO magazine has designated CompuGain Corporation as a Future 50 company. The list represents the top privately-held, fast-growth companies in the Greater Washington, D.C. area. SmartCEO carefully shortlists 50 companies out of hundreds of nominations based on employee and revenue growth over the past three years. CompuGain's Headquarters Relocates

CompuGain has relocated its headquarters to a larger office space in Herndon, Virginia due to continued expansion of its business. "The relocation and expansion of our corporate offices signals the rapid growth of CompuGain and the widespread adoption of CompuGain's IT and Financial Services in various industries" said President and CEO, Debasish Hota. This location houses CompuGain's back office operations and project delivery teams, while also providing sales, recruiting, and client management services.

Implementation of Disaster Recovery Plan for a Global Energy Giant

Client
  • Global Power Generation, Distribution and trading company.

Business Challenge
  • Implement IT Disaster Recovery Plan since IT systems were the backbone for its business transactions. The assurance of continued business operations, if it’s data centers failed needed to be created.

Project Objectives
  • Implement ITDR and ITBCP.
  • Plan, execute and document tests in a quality assurance environment.
  • Build a higher level of organizational readiness to handle a disaster to the data centers and continue essential business operations if such disasters occurred.

CompuGain Approach
  • A time-tested enterprise-class frame work for disaster recovery was introduced. Tests were executed in record time. CompuGain's team had the right mix of enterprise architect, network engineer, BCP specialist, technical writer and project manager. Applications were categorized into Tiers based on business drivers. Each application was tested in isolation in quality assurance environment. Subsequently all tier-1 and tier-2 applications were tested in a single test window, to provide a high level of reassurance about organizational staff and technologies to handle a disaster.

Results and Benefits
  • Compugain provided a comprehensive frame work for disaster recovery testing.
  • The CompuGain DR team completed DR testing twenty applications which included enterprise class SAP application instances in record time.
  • Organizational readiness at the company was increased by many folds.
  • Ensured that sound continuity practices were adopted and maintained throughout the organization.
  • Reduced risks and costs associated with disasters and interruptions to critical business processes.
  • Documentations were established for the benefit of the staff to operate with efficiency in case of a disaster to the data centers.
  • Hands-on training was provided to the staff in the course of the above 'simulated disaster' tests to handle a real disaster.

Technology and Techniques
  • Oracle DataGuard, SAP Application Instances, Active-Active MS-Outlook servers, SQL server Log shipping, SAP portals, Inquira, DocuShare, Custom Java Programs, Great Plains, Millennium, ERWin, CorpTax, ComShare and enterprise wide network infrastructure were analyzed and tested.

CompuGain Corporation tops the list of the fastest growing technology companies in Virginia as recognized by Deloitte & Touche LLP at an award event held September 24 at Sequoia in Georgetown. Called the "Deloitte Virginia Technology Fast 50," the annual award program ranks technology companies located in Virginia by revenue growth. The awards in Maryland and Virginia are sponsored by Morrison & Foerster LLP, NASDAQ OMX and SmartCEO Magazine.
